The Tennessee State Pipe Trades Association was chartered nearly 100 years ago. Currently consisting of 7 United Association Charter Local Unions, with nearly 5,000 skilled tradesmen and women working in the piping industry. There are 6 Training Facilities statewide. These facilities are set up to train Apprentices and Journeymen alike. Our Mission today is different than 30-40 years ago. We have turned our focus to the wisdom of our founding fathers. They had a strong belief in organizing new members and new contractors into the ranks of this great organization. Believing that every skilled trade worker in the piping industry deserves to be represented, able to support their family with the skills they possess and the work perform. Our officers and representatives are tradesman just like you who have worked in the trenches, and participated in the training offered to the membership.
Earn while you learn is a unique technique that the United Association offers in their apprenticeship program. If earning a livable wage while learning skills in the piping industry is something you’re interested in.
UA apprentices learn through both classroom and on-the-job training in what is considered by many to be the best construction industry apprentice program in the world.
Workers form unions because there is power in numbers. Where unions are strong, employers must bargain collectively to set the terms and conditions of employment.
Do you have experience in the Piping or Service Industry with an interest in taking your skills to the next level? Are you looking to earn industry leading wages and benefits?
There is no substitute for a UA trained craftsperson! The UA Training program has been producing qualified, effective and cost efficient workers for over one hundred years. No other organization serves the training needs of the piping industry like the United Association Training programs.
We in the United Association’s training programs have watched a transformation occur inside our ranks over the past forty years. The utilization of our training facilities coupled with the on-the-job training that takes place on each UA jobsite has produced both a stable and skilled workforce responsible for building and maintaining mechanical systems in the various industrial and residential facilities across the North American landscape.
No one can match our commitment or investment. The UA spends over $200 million annually on training efforts involving approximately 330,000 journeymen and apprentices in over 300 local training facilities at any given time
Through a partnership with contractors in the Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Industrial Piping, Commercial HVAC Service and Residential Service, we established and fund the Joint Apprentice Training Trust. Apprentices are offered the industries best five year training program with over 10,000 hours of on the job training.
